Best Seattle Pubs

The relatively small Irish population of Seattle probably explains the fact there no true Irish pub was established in the city until 1992. That doesn’t mean though that at this point, pubs of various origins and style are scarce in Seattle. These days, there are several that will satisfy you craving for authenticity and a good beer. There are also some amazing happy hours in Seattle. But here are the best pubs in Seattle.

Conor Byrne – a true Irish pub, this place has been standing for more than a hundred years. Don’t equate its age to it being ancient though. Some years ago, it underwent a renovation that makes the current atmosphere homey and familiar. Beers, whiskey and ginger cocktails are commonly served here, together will live music. Some days feature an open mic and you can bring your own food if you wish.

Mulleady’s – Deviating from a typical pub’s fare of favoring beers and whiskeys over food, Mulleady’s is known to the locals as a food-focused establishment that’s known for its grass-fed burger patties, a boneless braised lamb dish, and a pork dish with beets and horseradish. Don’t be misled by the non-typical pub food, as Mulleady’s has a great selection of Irish whiskeys. This 2-level pub also is known for its creative cocktail recipes, so this place is definitely for people who want to try something different from the usual pub fare.

Owl N’ Thistle – even though it’s set in a basement, this pub has a lively atmosphere that serves traditional pub fare. On weekdays, there’s live music and a 4-hour long happy hour. Weekends, you find an Irish band playing music from the old country. They serve lunch and dinner, with recipes that are international in flavor.

T.S. McHughs’s – the facade of this establishment screams Irish, and the 21 local and Irish beers on tap cement that impression. There’s also a great selection of Irish whiskeys (a dozen or so) available, spoiling even long-time customers with the choices available. To top that, its Irish coffee is talked about all over town. There is also the soda bread that’s just as popular.

This list is by no means exhaustive, but any of the pubs in this list will give you a taste of the atmosphere and ambiance of the original public houses transplanted from England. Remember to visit Ultimate Happy Hours for Seattle happy hours.
